Chennai, Sep 21 (Ajit Weekly News) A private bus plying in Tamil Nadu’s Coimbatore on Wednesday got stuck in a pothole dug for laying drinking water pipelines.
A crane was deployed for lifting up the bus.
Ajit Weekly News had earlier reported about the roads in Coimbatore being dug in nearly all areas creating major traffic issues and two-wheeler riders losing balance and falling down in these potholes.
The work for laying drinking water pipelines was taking place in Coimbatore’s Tadagam Road from Shivaji Nagar to KNG Pudur. This has led to several potholes in Tadagam Road and a private bus unexpectedly got stuck in the pothole.
The passengers in the bus were deboarded and the bus was lifted after a couple of hours by a crane brought from Coimbatore city. The whole road witnessed a major traffic snarl.
Tadagam Road police said that a notice would be served to the PWD state highways to immediately complete the work as frequent accidents have been taking place in the area.
M.C. Ubaid, a businessman from Coimbatore told Ajit Weekly News, “The Tadagam Road area is dangerous for motorists, the road has thrown up several potholes after it was dug for laying drinking water pipelines. Several two-wheeler motorists have fallen in these potholes. Today a bus was stuck in a pothole leading to hours of traffic jams. We have submitted several complaints to the PWD to resolve this issue, but nothing has happened. Maybe today’s incident has opened the eyes of the authorities.”
