Three minor girl students rescued from being trafficked in Bengal

The girls, all studying in class 7, were being trafficked on the pretext of providing them with a chance in a dance troupe.

Acting on a tip-off from Ashokenagar Police Station, state police on Friday evening swung into action and rescued the girls from Thakurpukur area.

The rescued girls were presented in front of the child welfare committee after which they were sent to a child welfare home for the time-being,” the police official said.

The girls, resident of Guma area under Ashokenagar Police Station, were missing since last Tuesday, following which their parents contacted the local cops.

“Fortunately, one of the three missing girls was carrying her father’s mobile phone along with her. The cops started tracking the tower location of that mobile phone and finally they were able to track their location,” said the police official.

The owner of the house from where the girls were rescued is absconding.

The girls told the Police that they were allured by promising them an entry into a popular dance troupe, sources said.
