RT-PCR Test Mandatory For All International Passengers Landing At Mumbai Airport


New Delhi: Karnataka and Delhi imposed weekend curfews to stem the spurt in Covid-19 cases as more states brought in stricter restrictions. Nearly 1,900 cases of Omicron variant have been detected across 23 states and Union Territories so far.

The Maharashtra government has made the RT-PCR test mandatory for all international passengers arriving at Mumbai airport.

“If negative, people will be allowed to leave and stay under seven-day home quarantine. Those found positive will undergo institutional quarantine,” the guidelines said.

Maharashtra logged as many as 18,466 fresh cases of coronavirus on Tuesday, with 20 fatalities. Its capital, Mumbai registered as many as 10,860 fresh infections.

Punjab and Bihar were the latest states to bring back night curfews and a series of restrictions. The movement of individuals will remain prohibited between 10 pm to 5 am within municipal limits of all the cities and towns of Punjab.

The Bihar government has also imposed a night curfew from 10 pm to 5 am from January 6 till January 21. As per the government guidelines, gyms, parks, malls, religious places, cinema halls, and swimming pools will be closed till further orders. Schools till Class 8 will remain closed till January 21.
