gurugram: Gurugram ex-DCP Dheeraj Setia suspended in multi-crore heist case | Chandigarh News

CHANDIGARH: The Haryana government on Friday placed IPS officer Dheeraj Setia, who was posted in Gurugram as DCP (south) till a few weeks ago, under suspension for his lapses in probing the multicrore heist in Gurugram.
The case pertains to crores of rupees going missing from the office-cum-flat of Alpha G management services in Gurugram in the first week of August. A case was registered at Kherki Daula police station.
Sources said his suspension is consequent to the report that Special Task Force (STF) sent to the home department about the serious lapses.
The STF has again sent summons to Setia at his residential address, asking him to join the investigations. “Even now, we want him to join investigations so that things can be cleared. Else, we are all set to initiate more action,’’ said a senior police officer. All cops whose names have cropped up for shady investigations or suggest they knew about the situation, will be called for investigations, the officer added.
Setia was DCP (south) and also holding the additional charge of DCP (crime) when police were probing the crime. It is alleged that Setia was approached by Dr Ashwani Tehlan and Sandeep Budhwar, close confidants of Dr Sachhinder Jain alias Naval, who is alleged to have tipped off theVikas Langarpuria about the haul. The two confessed to have approached him a number of times.
