JAMMU: Two passengers were killed and 12 others were injured including four children, when a vehicle they were traveling in rolled down a gorge along the Jammu-Srinagar national highway in Ramban district on Saturday, police said.
Police sources said that seven out of 12 injured have been referred to Govt Medical College (GMC) Jammu for specialised treatment.
Senior superintendent of police, Ramban, PD Nitya said, “Around 10 am, driver of a passenger taxi a Sumo vehicle (JK03 A 6391) from Jammu headed to Banihal lost control over the vehicle and it fell into a deep gorge at Samadhi Morh, Digdole in Ramban district.”
“The injured passengers have been identified as Jameela (7) D/o Fayaz of r/o Neel; Nasir Khan (19) s/o Arshad Khan of Hewa (UP); Aikra (2yrs and 5months ); Akya (08); Ara Bano (4) d/o Fayaz r/o Neel; Soib Khan (18) s/o Akhter; Sohil Khan s/o Irfan Khan r/o UP; driver of vehicle Manzoor Ahmed (28) s/o Bashir Ahmed r/o Neel; Mst Khaleda Begum (35) w/o Fayaz Ahmed r/o Neel; Arif (22) s/o Akhter r/o UP; Ashu (35) r/o UP and Usman (19) s/o Akbar r/o UP, ” police officer added.
Meanwhile Govt Medical College Jammu sources said, “Seven injured have been admitted in Govt Medical College Jammu, vide MLC Nos 5747, 5749 and 5751-5755 who have been referred from District Hospital (DH) Ramban.
“Khalida Begum, Ira and Jameela all from Neel Ramban, Arif, Ashu and Usman UP are stated to be in critical condition and Asiya of Neel Ramban,” they added.
