Will enforce 75% Haryana quota in private jobs this month: Deputy CM | Chandigarh News

CHANDIGARH: The Haryana government has decided to implement 75% reservation for local residents in private sector jobs this month, deputy chief minister Dushyant Chautala said on Wednesday.
Enquiries revealed that meetings to finalise the date of implementing the quota system and syncronizing data of various departments has begun.
On March 2 last year, the Haryana assembly had passed the Local Candidate Bill 2020. The Bill had got the governor’s assent in November and had been pending for notification ever since.
Deputy leader of opposition Aftab Ahmed and Mehem MLA Balraj Kundu had raised this issue in the recently concluded monsoon session of the assembly. They had sought details of employment given to local youth under the Bill passed last year.
Enquiries revealed that the employment department was compiling data of industries department, employment exchanges, ITIs, polytechnics, engineering and medical colleges, and other institutions .
The labour department plans to launch a portal to ensure benefits reach the right persons.
Employment for local youth was one of the main promises of the Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) during the assembly elections.
Reacting to government the decision, Ahmed said he was quite doubtful about government’s project.
“Why did they wait for 10 months? This time too the motive is not to provide employment, but to pat their own back at a time when government is under fire from all quarters. Why doesn’t the government come out with actual position of trade and industry in the state where locals will be provided employment?” said Ahmed.
