Patiala: Auto driver injures man, his mother with axe over parking row, held | Chandigarh News


PATIALA: The police on Friday arrested an autorickshaw driver for allegedly assaulting a man and his mother with an axe in Guru Nanak Nagar area of Patiala district.
The accused has been identified as Sarabjeet Singh (45).
The police said that the accused used to stay in his auto. He used to park it near Gurudwara Sahib.
However, after the Gurudwara committee objected to him parking his vehicle near the shrine, he shifted to Guru Nanak Nagar area in the city.
“Sarabjeet Singh used to park his auto in the residential area and used to stay and sleep inside the vehicle. A woman resident raised objections to it. The son of woman also joined the argument between them on Friday. The accused then brought an axe and tried to attack the man but his mother intervened following which the accused hit the woman on her arm,” a police officer said.
“He then chased her son and hit him on his thigh. The accused then tried to attack all those who tried to intervene and rescue the injured woman and her son. Police reached the spot and overpowered the accused with the help of locals. The injured were hospitalised while the accused was booked under various sections of IPC, including attempt to murder,” he said.
