Punjab: Stray dog adopted by victim found his buried, headless body | Chandigarh News

MOHALI: When Choti Badi Nagal village resident Sucha Singh started taking care of a stray pup nearly two years ago, little did he know that the canine would one day sniff out his buried headless body from a grave dug by his murderers near Punjab chief minister Amarinder Singh’s farmhouse in Siswan in Mohali.
When Sucha’s family could not locate him on Sunday, it was the dog, named Rocky, who dug out Sucha’s body. His severed head is yet to be recovered.
Three men have been booked in the murder case. Of them, two have been arrested and one is at large. The body was cremated in the victim’s village on Tuesday.
At the cremation, Rocky could be seen sitting next to the wife of the victim, Sunita Devi, as his son Sandeep Singh was seen holding the leash of the dog. Sandeep said, “Rocky has not eaten anything since Sunday and has been wailing throughout the night. If we unleash him, he tends to run to the place where my father’s body was exhumed.”
Bhag Singh, cousin brother of Sucha, when Rocky was picked up by his brother, he was starving and trembling due to hunger. “Since then Sucha fed him and took good care of him,” said Bhag. “Sucha and Rocky were fond of each other. Rocky used to wait for Sucha to retun home every day, so they could have dinner together.”
He said villagers along with family members went to see the place where Sucha had partied with his friends before being killed. Rocky was also with them. When they reached the spot, which was just few meters away from the spot where Sucha was buried, Rocky let himself free from Sandeep’s hand and ran to the pit. There he dug out the mud with his claws and started barking. Villagers got suspicious and followed Rocky to find Sucha’s feet popping out of the grave.
