Punjab reported 688 fresh cases and 46 deaths due to the virus, while Haryana reported 249 cases, 39 deaths and 334 recoveries. Himachal reported four and 210 positive cases while 523 positive patients recovered.
In Punjab, five deaths were reported in Sangrur while four people succumbed to the virus in Gurdaspur, three each in Amritsar, Bathinda, Fatehgarh Sahib, Ferozepur, Ludhiana, Pathankot and Tarn Taran, two each in Fazilka, Jalandhar, Kapurthala, Mansa, Moga, Patiala and Mohali and one each in Barnala and Ropar.
A total of 78,945 were vaccinated across the state. Of the total, 74,855 eligible beneficiaries were given the first shot and 4,090 received their second dose. As many as 16 fresh cases of mucormycosis were also reported.
The daily death rate remained high even as half of the Haryana districts on Wednesday reported10 or less new Covid-19 cases. The state has so far reported 7,66,606 cases, 7,53,918 recoveries, 9,109 deaths and 350 active cases.
Positivity rate of the day was recorded at 0.76% while positivity rate during second Covid wave was recorded at 12.6% and cumulative positivity rate of the state was recorded at 7.98%. Recovery rate has gone up to 98.34%.
Himachal, on the other hand, has total 1,99,407 confirmed positive cases of which 3,733 are active,1,92,256 have recovered while 3,398 patients have died. So far, 4,38,461 people in the state so far have received their second dose of Covid vaccine. Out of these, 70,693 are 45-plus and 2,55,966 above 60. Among those who have received one dose of the vaccine, 9,83,580 are above 45 and 7,36,647 above 60.
A government spokesperson said as per the recommendation a national expert group on vaccine administration for Covid-19 (NEGVAC), the schedule of Covishield is to administer second dose at 12-16 weeks’ (84 days) interval after the first one.
