Patton leaves behind a wife. He comes from an RCMP family.

“They have lost a husband, son and brother,” Blackmore told reporters.

“No one should have to wake up and learn their family member died as a result of doing their job and that is what happened today to Cst. Patton’s loved ones.”

Patton had been with the RCMP detachment in Indian Head since 2015. He served in the RMCP for a total of six years and four months.

Before beginning his service in Indian Head, Patton was on assignment at Parliament Hill in February and  March 2015.
