Haryana gets response of a global firm to supply Covid-19 vaccine | Chandigarh News

CHANDIGARH: An international pharmaceutical company with its headquarters in Malta—Pharma Regulatory Services Limited has given an expression of Interest to Haryana Medical Services Corporation Limited (HMSCL) to provide up to 60 million doses of Sputnik V vaccine manufactured by Gamaleya Institute and Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF).
Sputnik V is one of the three vaccines currently approved by DCGI for use in India. As per the offer made by the firm, per dose cost of the vaccine would be around Rs 1120. The firm has further given a timeline of 30 days to supply the first batch of 500000 followed by 1 million doses every 20 days till supply is completed against a letter of credit issued in their name.
Rajeev Arora, additional chief secretary, health, said that although the offer has come after the due date of tender is over, still it is being carefully examined to see if it meets the criteria of the tender document and to ensure optimal vaccine availability for the state.
Several states have recently floated global tenders for Covid-19 vaccine to augment the supplies being received from the government of India, as well as give a boost for vaccination of the 18-44 age group to provide complete immunization to the citizens of their states. In this regard the state of Haryana had also floated a global tender through Haryana Medical Services Corporation (HMSCL) on May 26 which closed on June 4.
Although no bid was received in the tender till June 4. However, Pharma Regulatory Services Limited has given an expression of Interest to HMSCL to provide upto 60 million doses of Sputnik V vaccine manufactured by Gamaleya Institute & Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF).
Limited supply of vaccines in the state of Haryana has slowed up the vaccination in Haryana, especially those in the age group of 18-44 years. As of now 59 lakh doses of vaccine has been administered to the public in the state. However, the state requires 3.5 crore doses of vaccine to cover all beneficiaries in the state. A total of 1.76 crore people are required to be vaccinated in the state.
